Can you hear Him speaking?
“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak;
And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Let my teaching drop as the rain,
My speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb,
And as showers on the grass.
For I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.”
– Deuteronomy 32:1-4
This passage of scripture is so powerful.
It is the song that was given to Moses by the Lord just before his death, as a warning to the children of Israel and a prophecy that has been continuously fulfilled through the ages afterward.
Moses never made it to the promised land… and at 120 years old, it was time for him to prepare for his death. Joshua would be inaugurated and take his place as the leader of the people, but the Lord had a message to deliver before Moses’ passing.
While the beginning of this song is beautiful and speaks of the glory of God; and His perfection and purity of justice, it later goes on to warn the people that they will turn away and reject Him later…
Fortunately, that is not our path today… having been reconciled to God by the blood of Jesus by His gracious sacrifice……which means that we can now enjoy the beautiful part of this verse… the perfection of communication with God and the artistry of His words.
I pray that we would have a revolution of spirit… a reignition of souls for Christ…I pray that the words of our God will spread across the face of the earth like rain and collect, like dew, on the believers; and as the light of our Creator reflects against the droplets that cover us, we would be that light upon the hill – as Jesus intended His church to be; catching the eyes of the lost and the broken, and bringing them to our Saviour…
In Jesus’ name…
